Courageous

Czech President Vaclav Klaus dares to speak out against the European Union, a monolith so disorganized and corrupt that the last nine years worth of budgets have not been thoroughly accounted for (EU auditors don't know where 90% of last year's $120 billion budget went).

Some great quotes:

"You cannot have democratic accountability in anything bigger than a nation state."

Europeans "are still in the dream world of welfare, long vacations, guaranteed high pensions and cradle-to-grave social security...a new form of collectivism...endangering free societies."

"The enemies of free societies today are those who want to burden us down again with layer upon layer of regulations...We had that in communist times. But now if you look at all the new rules and regulations of EU membership, layered bureaucracy is staging a comeback."

Well said. The EU is a horrible institutions hostile to Christianity and local cultures. It's soulless bureaurocrats are certainly working hard to impose a stale uniformity on all of Europe.

Cases in point? They've made a ruckus over Greece because certain ancient and holy monasteries do not allow women to enter their territories, and are therefore discriminatory. A Greek commie member of the EU wrote up regulations against discrimination so vague and so sweeping that you can feel Uncle Joe's hand on your shoulder [I'll find the links if I can].
